Start with one agent, one or two deterministic tools, and approval around side effects. The snippets below assume a gateway agent client in client (and a ctx in Go). They’re illustrative: deployments, store, search and fetchPage stand in for your own code.

Approval-gated deployment

The deploy tool pauses the run until a person approves the exact call. Save the paused result, show the pending call to a reviewer, then continue with the decision.
State and approval covers rejections, manual tool outputs and saving runs.

Stream into a terminal

Rust 0.2 has no streaming; run returns once the run finishes. See Streaming.

Bound autonomous research

Combine several limits; whichever is hit first ends the run with status stopped and a stop reason such as max_cost:1.
The stop reason’s number formatting follows the language: max_cost:1 in Go, C# and PHP, max_cost:1.0 in Ruby and Java. In Rust, reaching the step limit ends the run as stopped with the reason max_steps:20. See Stop conditions.

Combine features for common products

The TypeScript package ships complete versions of four of these in its examples/ folder: research-brief-agent.ts, support-triage-agent.ts, coding-review-agent.ts and parallel-tool-agent.ts (independent local tools run concurrently).

Persist a returned run and continue it in a later request.

Research brief

Combine an agent with grounded web research.

Support triage

Keep routing and prompt defaults in a managed preset.

Coding review

Connect focused local tools to a coding workflow.

Parallel tools

Fan out independent tool calls without changing result order.

Structured extraction (Python)

Extract structured JSON with the Python Agent SDK.

Ops runbook (Go)
