Use this explanation when you want to understand the product choices behind the Gateway and the model catalog. Phaseo is built around a few simple principles: keep integrations portable, make model and provider behavior visible, and give teams enough routing control to operate safely in production.

Openness and transparency

Pricing, provider availability, routing behavior, and performance data should be visible wherever possible. That means Phaseo should make it easier to answer practical questions:
  • which providers can serve this model?
  • what does the request cost?
  • how fast was the route?
  • what changed when a model or provider was updated?

One API for every model

Model providers do not expose identical APIs. Phaseo gives your application one stable layer across provider ecosystems, model families, and modalities. The goal is not to hide every provider difference. The goal is to keep common workflows consistent and make provider-specific behavior explicit when it matters.

Portability and resilience

Production AI systems need to survive model changes, provider incidents, pricing shifts, and account-level limits. Phaseo keeps integrations portable by supporting provider-compatible routes and resilient by giving teams routing and fallback controls.

Observability by default

Every production request should be easier to debug after it happens. Phaseo captures usage, latency, cost, error details, and request identifiers so teams can understand behavior without rebuilding their own observability layer first.

Respectful community

Phaseo includes public docs, model data, examples, and contribution paths. Feedback should be specific, constructive, and useful to the people maintaining the platform and catalog.
